Polyamide (nylon) has the highest elasticity of all conventional materials. It has good temperature resistance and abrasion resistance is higher than that of polyester. When wet, the material loses 10-15% of its strength.

Of all conventional materials, polyester has relatively the highest coefficient of friction and the highest melting point (250° C). Although nylon has a higher abrasion resistance, polyester is durable because it does not lose strength rapidly due to cyclic loading and because of the high UV resistance. Tensile strength is high, wet and dry strength are equal.
