If Fishing is your thing, then most of your vacations probably are centered around getting the best fishing experience in unusual places. Learning how to throw a fishing net is a skill that you can take to ocean resorts or deep rivers, and it lets you experience one of the oldest and finest forms of fishing. The steps in throwing a fishing net are easy to learn, but practice at home before trying it in an exotic locale or else you will be frustrated with the results.
STEP 1
Lay your fishing net on the ground and make sure that neither the net nor the throwing cord attached to it is tangled.
STEP 3
Draw the rest of your throwing cord into your left hand in coils. You need to allow the coils to release quickly so as to make sure that you are not wrapping them around your hand but you are holding the coils loosely.
STEP 4
Gather the top of the net with your right hand about a foot down from the top edge, which is the edge that does not have weights attached. Transfer the top of the net to your left hand. You should now have the throwing cord looped around your left wrist, with the coils held loosely in your left hand and the top of the net gathered together and held in your left hand as well, but on top of the coiled throwing line.
STEP 5
Reach down and grasp the bottom edge of the net, which is the edge with the weights. You do not want to bunch or gather the bottom of the net but rather imagine yourself as a bullfighter holding a cape. When you stand up and extend your right arm the net should spread in front of you like a bullfighter’s cape.
STEP 6
Stand with your weight on your right leg and step forward with your left, about the width of your shoulders. Transfer your weight to your left foot and spin counterclockwise while extending your right arm at shoulder height. You want to spin fast enough to flare the net out straight from your body. Complete two turns and as you come out of the second turn, release the net from your right hand. When you feel a tug on the net in your left, release the top of the net and the coiled throwing cord.
